About CBYF

All Hands In

Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF) is a Canada-wide project created by Tamarack Institute funded through the Government of Canada.

Oxford County is one of 20 communities across Canada selected to participate in this initiative.

CBYF will explore needs and gaps for youth (ages 15-30) in Oxford County and work collaboratively with the community to achieve two main goals:

  1. Improve graduation rates and;

  2. Improve youth outcomes (i.e. the transitions from high school to employment, apprenticeships, and/or post-secondary education).

Our Leadership Table was created in November 2021, when Oxford County was approached to be a member of the network of CBYF communities. The role of the Leadership Table is to provide guidance, resources, and access to community networks throughout this initiative.

We have also developed a Youth Council for CBYF. The Youth Council consists of 21 to 30 youth volunteers from Oxford County. Their role is to identify the needs of youth in our community, create projects they believe will help to address these needs, and assist with the implementation of these projects.

CBYF has a backbone staff team that currently consists of a Convener, Fiscal Sponsor and Project Coordinator, Youth Engagement Lead and several Youth Interns.
